Defining “New Media”

New Media is NOT

  • avoiding print
  • putting down pen and paper
  • swiping or pinching-and-zooming
  • neglecting newspapers
  • forgetting magazines
  • believing that YOUNGER is BETTER
  • being “Web 2.0″
  • Tweeting
  • WordPressing
  • Facebooking

It’s thinking outside the box whenever possible and using any resource that’s fit for using. It’s about communicating a message regardless of the media required or desired. New Media is for starting, pushing, and ending revolutions; it’s also for family, friends, and adventures.

New Media is what you make it.

So make it great.

Agreed. I think people get a little freaked out by the title “new media”, especially those of us that aren’t entirely computer literate.

Yeah, you’re right. A lot of people that claim “they and computers just don’t get along” are likely to get pretty intimidated by the idea of “New Media.” I think it’s our job to make sure people understand that it’s more than websites and Photoshop. We should insist on staying in touch with the layman.

I say we need computers! New media helps us all. Be patient and take the time to learn,
